The Vancouver Canucks released their 2013-2014 regular season and pre-season schedule Friday.

The Canucks regular season will kick off on Oct. 3 in San Jose against the Sharks, followed by their home opener on Oct. 5 against the Edmonton Oilers.

The team said in a statement the schedule is highlighted with a number of marquee match-ups at Rogers Arena, including the Montreal Canadiens on Oct. 12, the Toronto Maple Leafs on Nov. 2, the Pittsburgh Penguins on Jan. 7 and the Heritage Classic versus the Ottawa Senators on March 2.

This season the Canucks will also travel for the first time in franchise history to play the Jets in Winnipeg.

The 30 NHL teams have been reconfigured into a four-division system, with the Western Conference comprised of two seven-team divisions.

The Eastern Conference will be split into two eight-team divisions.
